London: A Childhood Dream Come True
I’ve been obsessed with everything British for as long as I can remember. Harry Potter, Mary Poppins, Jane Austen, kings, queens, history, accents, football, tea…I literally love all of these things. Because of this, it probably should not come as a surprise to anyone that visiting London was always #1 on my bucket list.
London was the first place I ever went in Europe, and I was practically tearing up with excitement as we flew over the city to land at Heathrow Airport. I normally try to not get my hopes up too high, but my expectations for London were sizable to say the least.
Luckily, London did not disappoint! To be honest, it somehow even exceeded my dream destination expectations! Here’s a little snapshot of my overall experience across the pond.
Congratulations! You’re married! You made it through the ceremony and reception. Now you get to enjoy a honeymoon, newlywed life, and those brand new kitchen appliances. Things are looking up.
But then you remember…
You have to write your wedding thank you cards! *cue dramatic Jaws music*
Fear not, you can do this! Luckily, you’ve found these great tips to help you slay those wedding thank you cards.
I hope everyone had a wonderful week!
I’m currently in Washington DC visiting family. I forgot how amazing this city is! I love all of the history here. I could walk around the National Mall for an entire day and be a happy camper. I’m already planning my next trip back. I’m determined to see the famous cherry blossoms one year. It’s definitely on my bucket list!
Also, can you believe it’s 75 degrees?! I actually got to wear a sundress without tights. Spring in February? I’ll take it for now.
Here are a few of things from the web I enjoyed this week.
Have a lovely weekend from Washington DC!

In an ideal world most of us would probably hire a wedding planner. We’d tell the planner what our dream wedding looks like, and they would magically make our vision a reality.
Then of course we’d get married and all live happily ever after.
While this world sounds lovely, it’s simply not a reality for most of us. Weddings are EXPENSIVE. When I was first thinking about our wedding I saw the cost of hiring a wedding planner, had a mild panic attack, and then realized a wedding coordinator of any kind was not going to be feasible.
I had to come to terms with the fact that hiring a wedding planner was not a priority for me. I knew that money would be better spent on the venue, food, flowers, etc.
If you’re finding yourself in a similar situation, fear not. Thousands of brides have had their dream weddings without a planner. You can too!
But how can you plan your wedding without an official planner/losing your sanity? Here’s a few tips to get you started! You can do it 🙂
Budget airlines are probably no one’s ideal way to travel. One day I will splurge and fly somewhere first class, but until that day comes, budget airlines is where I’ll be. In reality as long as I get from Point A to Point B in a timely manner, I’m a happy camper.
Even if I’m going to be flying on a budget airline, I still want to be comfortable and avoid getting slammed with random fees. What’s the point of budget travel if you have to pay another $100 at the airport? No way!
Here’s a few tips I’ve picked up along the way to make flying on a budget airline more pleasant and fee-free.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful day! It was a very snowy week up here in Boston. School was cancelled due to the Nor’easter yesterday and the cleanup today. That is one of the great perks of being a teacher! 🙂 There’s more snow in the forecast this weekend too. February seems to be here with a vengeance after what’d been a mild winter!
Can you believe Valentine’s Day is right around the corner too? What does everyone have planned?
In honor of the weekend, here are a few of my favorite ideas and thoughts from the web this week.
The Basics of Wedding Favors
Wedding favors are a simple and fun way to say thank you to your guests. Although picking out favors is a relatively small part of the wedding planning process, you’d be surprised how much favors mean to your guests.
Wedding favors are not meant to be over the top gestures. They should cost somewhere between $1-$5 per person. What’s most important is that your wedding favors are something that will make your guests smile. They should be the cherry on top of what I’m sure will be your adorable/fun/chic/beautiful wedding day. Here are 21 favors your guests are sure to love!
It involves champagne, a catamaran, and the most beautiful beach I have EVER seen. Sound good? Great!
When we took our cruise in December one of the ports was in St. Thomas. My mom suggested we look into visiting St. John while we were there. St. John is only about 4 miles away from St. Thomas, and roughly two-thirds of the island is a national park. She’d heard incredible things about the beaches there, but had never been. Thank goodness she mentioned this! If not, we really would have missed out.
Are you ready for some footballlll? I can’t wait to watch the Super Bowl this weekend! I always love a good football feast with friends and family. What are your plans for Super Bowl Sunday?
My throat has been a little scratchy, so I’m also looking forward to a relaxing weekend at home. So much tea to be had. I’ll be sure to rally in time for the big game though 🙂
Here’s a look at some of my favorite things this week.
Can you believe it’s February 1st already?! Where did January go? 2017, you need to slow down. Please and thank you.
Every January we make resolutions to better ourselves in the New Year. These all sound lovely in theory. I’ll go to the gym 5 times a week, drink 8 glasses of water a day, call my friends more, cook every night, publish an infinite amount of witty blog posts…wait, that one might not be as applicable to everyone.
The truth is these are all lovely aspirations, but they are a lot more difficult to achieve in practice. Why? Ummm, life. Just because it’s a new year doesn’t mean another 2 hours are added each day. That would be nice though right?
So what can we do? Take the time to think about our goals and continue to work on bettering ourselves. It’s only the second month of the year after all 🙂
Follow these simple steps to take action and make your resolution a reality!
