Amsterdam is one of the coolest places I have ever visited. I’d heard really good things about the city, but nothing could have prepared me for just how amazing it is in person.
First of all, I knew Amsterdam had canals. I did not know that Amsterdam is literally COVERED in canals. They are absolutely beautiful! You literally run into them around every corner. Swoon worthy for sure and so romantic! I’ve never been to Venice (it’s on my bucket list), but I understand why people are so obsessed with those magical waterways! It adds such charming character to the city.
You might also know that I have a sincere love of nature and parks. Amsterdam made my heart so happy with its green space. I could have stayed in the Vondelpark for hours! It’s immense! There are also these adorable cafes that you can stumble upon once you are inside the park. Normally, I don’t like restaurants in parks, but the cute cafes are nestled in among the trees and draped in white lights (another weakness of mine). They add to the setting instead of detracting.
Also, Amsterdam has a whole flower market. Need I say more?
The city has plenty of culture to go around too. I absolutely loved the Van Gogh Museum. I honestly learned so much about Van Gogh and had never attended any type of gallery that gave such a comprehensive look into one artist’s life. Growing up I was never the biggest Van Gogh fan, but seeing so many of his paintings in person completely changed my mind. The colors that he used are just breathtaking and so vibrant. The yellow in his famous Bedroom in Arles is brilliant, and photos of this work just don’t do it justice!
All in all Amsterdam was a definite win and a city where I could actually move to easily. Oh, did I mention that the people living there also look like they just came off of a fashion runway? Read more about that here!
Have you been to Amsterdam or are you planning a trip there? I didn’t get to visit the Anne Frank Museum this time (that line is out of control!), so I will definitely need to come back.
Anyway, here’s a few more pictures to give you a little snapshot of Amsterdam! Enjoy!
